Origins
The Community of True Inspiration founded in southwestern Germany in 1714 by Eberhard Ludwig Gruber and Johann Friedrich Rock.
Established in U.S.
First settlement founded outside Buffalo, New York in 1842. Entire community began moving to present Amana Colonies site in 1855.
