About C1st

Community 1st Credit Union is a Not-For-Profit financial cooperative that has been serving members for over 70 years. From a humble beginning we have grown to serve over 45,000 members with more than $320 million in assets and offices throughout Iowa. As a Not-For-Profit financial institution we give returns to our members in higher savings rates, better services, and lower borrowing rates.

Credit Unions build their capital base – which is a key indicator of soundness – through earnings. Unlike banks that can build capital through selling stock, a credit union can only improve its capital when income is greater than expenses. This is a different structure than you’ll find in other financial institutions. Banks exist to make profits to pay their stockholders. Credit unions exist solely for the purpose of serving their members.

Credit Unions are safe!

All C1st deposit accounts are federally insured up to at least $250,000 and back by the full faith and credit of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the United States Government.

How do I become a member?

Membership in a credit union is not open to the general public. Instead it is extended to persons sharing a common bond. Visit your local branch or out home page to see if you are elgible to be a member at C1st.

A $5 deposit in a share savings account will establish your membership. As a member, you are an equal owner of the credit union and eligible to use a wide variety of services. Once you discover the benefits that Community 1st Credit Union can offer and have verified that you are eligible to become a member, it’s easy to join!

Whatever season, Crest Country Inn offers a 360 degree view of sixteen acres of the peaceful Iowa Countryside.  Sitting atop a hill, relax and unwind enjoying spectacular sunrises and sunsets.  Gary Stake, fourth generation motel owner of this Iowa County motel, comes from a long line of hoteliers providing legendary hospitality dating back to the late 1800’s.  Gary, his wife Kandi, and staff are dedicated to providing the same warm hospitality that his ancestors provided to their guests. A thirty unit  motel, Crest Country Inn is known for its clean rooms and a quiet night of rest.

Don’t miss all this exit on I-80 has to offer. Rooms are furnished with Amana furniture, quilts, antiques and artwork. A delicious full breakfast is served each morning, including home-baked pastries. At breakfast, be sure to ask your hosts about both Amana history and current life – June and Marc love to share stories of this peaceful and unique set of villages!
